Shade Palapas uses Bamboo for the Frame and Structure

Bamboo is a remarkable and renewable resource. It is the fastest growing plant on earth, bamboo grows faster than the fastest growing trees.  Some species grow up to 1 meter per day. Bamboo can be selectively harvested annually with no need for replanting, building the soil, reducing erosion and improving water quality.  Of course, like all plants, the bulk of the mass in bamboo comes from the CO2 in the air so potential global warming is reduced and the ecosystem stays in better balance.

Bamboo plays an important role in the reduction of timber consumption, environmental and forest protection, poverty alleviation and sustainable development of rural economies.  Unlike trees, heavy and expensive machines are not used for planting or harvesting.  These unnecessary forestry machines frequently damage the land, cause erosion and pollute the water system.

Bamboo is beautiful, durable and incredibly strong and flexible.  It is highly resistant to insect damage and does not decay as quickly as wood, even in a damp environment.
